Where Palm Beach County Inmates Are Held

All arrests in Palm Beach County are initially processed at the Main Detention Center on Gun Club Road. Inmates may remain there or be transferred to the West Detention Center in Belle Glade based on classification, capacity, and program assignment.

PBSO's flagship facility, co-located with the Sheriff's Office headquarters on Gun Club Road. Houses adult males at all custody levels (minimum, medium, maximum), plus juvenile male inmates charged as adults, and all special-population female inmates. The Main Detention Center is the central booking, intake, and classification site for arrests throughout Palm Beach County. Inmate releases, including bond-outs, happen through the Visitor's Lobby.

West Detention Center

Located in Belle Glade, 45 miles west of PBSO headquarters, serving the agricultural western Palm Beach County communities (Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay). Originally constructed in 1983 with several expansions since, including a $72 million expansion and renovation completed on April 9, 2011. A program-oriented facility using direct supervision, offering drug-education programs ("Another Way"), religious services, and self-improvement programs. Houses all custody levels.

PBSO uses video visitation exclusively for general visits. Visitors can choose between the West County Video Visitation Center in Belle Glade, or the Central Video Visitation Center just west of the South Florida Fairgrounds.

West Detention Center in Belle Glade houses all custody levels and is often used for population management, program participation ("Another Way" drug education, etc.), and inmates from the western Palm Beach communities.
